Amazon offers the Onkyo TX-SR605 surround receiver, in silver only (black is $40 more) for $339 with free shipping. This receiver is Onkyo's lowest-priced receiver with HDMI upconversion for all inputs. This means any device, with any connector (composite, S-video, component, or HDMI) will be output over the receiver's HDMI output, so you need only one connection to your TV. This price is about $30 less than another sale Amazon had about three weeks ago and the lowest total price I could find among reputable vendors.

Fresh on the heels of announcements in support of Blu-ray by Netflix and Best Buy, Wal-Mart has announced that they, too, will only stock Blu-ray discs going forward. Good bye, HD-DVD, it was nice knowing you.

At $799 with $55 or so for shipping, and no tax for most folks, this is an excellent deal. Costco sells Vizio TV's and I am consistently impressed with their picture quality comparing them side-by-side with other, much higher priced TV's in the store.

Samsung 24" LCD - $299

eCost.com has the Samsung 245BW, refurbished, for $299.

This is an excellent price on a good monitor - I use one at the office. It is sharp and the color is good; the only minor downside is that the picture is dim when you view it from too far off center. It's fine when sitting in front of it, however.

For comparison, the Dell I have at home, about which I have no complaints, is $699 new.
